This is a horn pendant wrapped in sterling silver wire with turquoise beads. The horn measures 3" long and it hangs on a 36" leather cord.

 Turquoise may be the longest-used of all gemstones. Beads have been dated back as far as 5000B.C. Different cultures hold different beliefs in the power of turquoise. It is said to have great healing properties. Indians believed it was protective so they would adorned there horses with turquoise before going into battle. The most interesting piece of research I just discovered is that turquoise is said to open the throat chakra, making it more effortless for one to articulate & bring forth ones wisdom. The history of jewelry once held more meaning that just to ornament our bodies. Jewelry was made and worn as powerful talismans and amulets.
